Scholarships and Grants
In addition to taking care of each other, the Brothers of Helotes Masonic Lodge #1429 also get involved with the Helotes Community for the betterment of society.
The Helotes Masonic Lodge, together with its appendant bodies — the Helotes York Rite and the Order of the Eastern Star — is proud to award annual scholarships and vocational educational grants to outstanding high school students. Scholarships are awarded to students from our local area high schools which include O’Connor, Brandeis, Taft, Communication Arts, and Sotomayor. The vocational educational grants are limited to the Construction Careers Academy. Applicants are asked to submit a completed scholarship/grant application to include a response to the provided prompt. The specific requirements are outlined in the application instructions. These deserving recipients are recognized for their achievements and presented with a scholarship or grant to support their future educational goals.
Lamar Award of Excellence
This award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in areas such as academics, citizenship, sports, volunteerism, overcoming hardship, or school leadership. Our Lodge supports this program in two ways: by partnering with a local elementary school to recognize deserving students, and by honoring outstanding educators who have inspired our scholarship and grant recipients.
Scholarships and Grants
We present scholarships to seniors from the high schools that are within the local area of the Helotes Masonic Lodge. Additionally, we present vocational educational grants to seniors from the Construction Careers Academy who are choosing to pursue a career in the much needed trades industry.
Honesty and Integrity Award
We present this award to one male and one female Junior as nominated by their counselor whom they deem most deserving of receiving this award based on the students' honesty and integrity. The following qualities considered: grades, dependability, participation, responsibility and interactions with other students and teachers.
Cornyval Festival
Since the 1980's, the Brothers of Helotes Masonic Lodge has been participating in the Helotes Cornyval held every first week of May. Come and visit our booth near the main stage. We sell charbroiled burgers.
Fantastic Teeth Program
We donate toothbrushes, toothpaste, child-friendly mouth care instruction materials and brochures to 2nd Grade students.
Community Builder Award
We acknowledge certain individuals in the local area who have made significant individual contributions to the improvement of and/or has made a worthwhile impact on our community.
